The aftermath of the ill-tempered Uganda Cup quarterfinal clash between Kitara FC and BUL FC has triggered a wave of disciplinary action, with FUFA coming down hard on both clubs following chaotic scenes on and off the pitch.

The match, which ended with Kitara edging BUL 1-0 was marred by misconduct that has now led to multiple suspensions and fines for players and officials involved.

The FUFA Disciplinary Panel, in a ruling released Friday, confirmed severe sanctions for individuals on both sides.

Kitara Players Sanctioned

Three Kitara FC players; Titus Ssematimba, Henry Kaddu Patrick and George Senkaaba have each been handed two-match suspensions from all FUFA-organised competitions.

The trio was found guilty of improper conduct around the 60th minute of the heated quarterfinal clash, violating section 43(3) of the FUFA Competition Rules.

In addition to the bans, each player has been issued a suspended fine of UGX 500,000, which will be enforced if they reoffend.

With key players now sidelined, Kitara FC will have to make critical tactical adjustments as they push forward in the competition and league campaign.

Heavy Punishments for BUL FC Players

BUL FC did not escape the panel’s scrutiny either. Defender Walter Ochora received the harshest punishment: a 10-match suspension and a fine of UGX 1,000,000 for pushing the referee, Henry Musisi. Midfielder Nicholas Mwere, also involved in the altercation, was initially facing a 10-match ban but had two games suspended due to his cooperation, apology, and remorse.

He will now serve an 8-match ban, in addition to the automatic suspension from the red card issued during the match.

These absences leave BUL significantly weakened as they enter a critical stretch of their league campaign.

Coach Kikomeko Hit with Six-Month Ban

Perhaps the most striking sanction, however, was reserved for BUL head coach Abbey Kikomeko. He has been banned for six months from all football-related activities and fined UGX 5,000,000 for violent conduct toward match officials and a steward.

The disciplinary panel cited both the post-match assault on officials and a widely circulated video showing the coach physically confronting a steward before the game.

With six league matches remaining, BUL FC now face the daunting task of navigating the season’s final stretch without their head coach and key players. Their immediate test comes against Wakiso Giants FC on Saturday, April 26.
