Kenya’s national rugby team have defended the Elgon cup after a landslide second leg 5:21 win against Uganda rugby cranes at kings Park Arena in Bweyogerere on a rainy Saturday evening.

Kenya opened the score inside 10 minutes with Timothy Omela converting Ephraim Oduor’s try giving the simbas an early 7 point lead which was later doubled by vice captain Eugine Sifuna’s converted try and a third one before the stroke of halftime to set the score at 0:21.

Sidney Gongodyo’s late unconverted try was Uganda’s only contribution to the scoreboard but it wasn’t enough to uplift the mood of the crowd that had braved the rain to come watch the cranes with expectations of sealing it at home after a narrow 27:25 away defeat in Nairobi last weekend.

This is Kenya’s 14th title having won all but three editions 2006, 2012 and 2015 won by Uganda since its inception in 2004..
