Empowered by huge numbers from Kibuli in a filled Lugogo Indoor Arena, fans favorite Kemis Ibrahim once again proved why money is paid after he stopped reknowned Wasswa Ssali alias ‘Kisolosolo’ in Week 14 of the Uganda Boxing Champions League season 3.

Kemis Ibrahim’s fans before the main bout.
With 5;0 scorecard result in favour of Kemis, some bits of the story might not be told wholesomely but sure thing was that the Mutajjazi’s man was on the fore front at all times.
Kemis started strongly in round one with a string of straight punches to control Ssali’s energy levels and stop him from executing his boxing style, forcing him into hurriedness.

However as the round was coming to an end the Lukanga man grew into the bout, something that helped him to finish strongly despite a weak start that also had multiple fouls the referee deemed not serious.

Bout action.
In the second, both boxers tried to match the other punch to punch and at that time is when Kemis threw one which managed to land on one of Ssali’s eyes, creating a cut.
At first it wasn’t nothing with boxing on the flow accompanied by different sets of fans from both camps, however the blood drew some referee attention who at some point paused the bout for Ssali to receive treatment.
Third round is when everyone in the Arena witnessed the bout climax after Kemis was charged with a head-butt foul. While on the Pause after foul was called Ssali’s cut continued to produce blood, something that forced the doctor to indicate Ssali’s inability to continue.

Despite Ssali’s face of disbelief, nothing could go on but with only accept the situation which made decision making easy for the different referees who had to calculate points and also deduct some due to fouls but still Kemis came out on top.
After the bout, we caught us with a bossy and confident Kemis who re-echoed his Luganda statement during the weigh in;
“Wasswa Ssali tansobola, newebamumpa enkya ne luli nja mukuba” meaning that the Lukanga boxer can not manage him even if they are given a rematch tomorrow or the day after
When asked about the time he knew he was going to win the bout, he added and said;
“As you know all boxers who come to play here have trained and are ready for the challenge but I felt I should start strong against him and the rest would fall in line”
Looking at round, many were cheering for him to win and concluded by asking where he collects these fans;
“(laughs – laughs)Most of those fans came from Bwaise and Kawempe, I think when they got here their decision was to change camp thus ending up on the winning team but on a serious note Kibuli we are a community that supports each other therefore I want to thank them”
Onto some more exciting welterweight contest action between an improved Sande Simon lost to Kasujja Richard in a very close bout where many thought Sande edged the first three rounds but lost the remaining two sine he was out of energy.

The judges’ thoughts were also close thus awarding 4:1 split result in favour of Kasujja who prepared himself for the final two rounds.
COBAP’s Batte Nuhu from the same weight struggled through the bout with nose bleeding but managed to beat the clean boxer from Kiwatule, Edward Mukwaya alias Pastor.

Batte who has proven against all odds this season, started so slow compared to his previous fights notably the recent one being against Kasujja Richard with a flexible style of boxing depending on the boxer.

Mukwaya who has only one win in this campaign has shown huge potential in his boxing but never seems to get over the line with the perfect example being against Batte who can easily increase and decrease on the speed at which he throws punches.
However at the end of it all, despite some dizziness and cut which distracted his sight Batte did enough after 5 rounds to win the bout with a split 4:1 result to go top of his weight standings about fellow teammate Matovu Ukasha.
In the Elite 51Kgs, Matovu Livingstone (Brawn BC) won 4:1 split against Kasozi Frank (Nakawa BC)
Raskara Paul (KCCA BC) continued his ubeaten run with win by RSC in round 5 against Onen Jafer (EastCoast BC) in the Elite 63.5Kgs
Nasasira Shafick (Police BC) returned to winning was with 4:1 split result agaist Kaddu Julius (Katabi BC) in the Elite 60Kgs, same weight where we saw Yiga Ashraf (Namungoona BC) wins 5:0 unanimous over Kyeyune Mathias (Lukanga BC).
Uganda Boxing Champions League action will return on Saturday 7th December 2024 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena before the boys head into the season 3 finale on 26th December (Boxing day).
