A highly anticipated Uganda Premier League clash is on the cards this Friday as KCCA FC travel to face Mbarara City FC at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge. With both teams chasing important points for entirely different ambitions, the fixture is expected to draw keen attention from fans across the country.

The Cityzens arrive in Kamwenge full of confidence after a vital win against URA FC that keeps them firmly in 3rd place on the log.

Their good early season form has been a boost, and the team will be further strengthened by the return of co-head coach Brian Ssenyondo, who has been away on national duty at the U17 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In a pre-match press briefing, co-head coach Jackson Magera expressed optimism ahead of the trip.

“We face a side that has always been resilient when playing at home, but we are ready and have prepared well. We want to capitalize on our previous performance and play for maximum points,” Magera said.

KCCA FC will, however, need to stay sharp, as away matches in Kamwenge have historically proven difficult for visiting teams.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Mbarara City FC enter the fixture under heavy pressure. The Ankole Lions sit 15th, second from the bottom, and are desperate for consistency after a troubled start to the campaign. Their recent struggles triggered the departure of their head coach, adding further turbulence to an already challenging period.

However, there is a glimmer of hope after Mbarara secured their first league win of the season in their previous outing against Buhimba. Despite that result, they are still winless at home, a statistic they will be eager to change in front of their supporters in Kamwenge.

With KCCA FC aiming to keep pace with the league leaders and Mbarara City battling to escape the relegation zone, Friday’s encounter promises intensity from start to finish.

A victory for KCCA would strengthen their title push, while three points for Mbarara could spark a much-needed turnaround and energize their

fans in Kamwenge.
