Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) have parted ways with head coach Abdallah Mubiru, just six months before the expiration of his contract.
The decision marks a turning point for the Uganda Premier League side, who have been struggling to meet expectations this season.
Mubiru took charge of the Lugogo-based club after replacing Sergio Trangui, signing a two-year deal that was expected to bring stability and improved performances to the team. However, his tenure has fallen short of the club’s ambitions.
In his debut season, he led KCCA FC to a fifth-place finish which is below the club’s traditional top-tier aspirations. This season, the team currently sits in sixth place on the log with 34 points from 22 games, further intensifying pressure on his position.
The club has appointed assistant coach Jackson Magera as interim head coach until the end of the season. Magera will now shoulder the responsibility of trying to steer the club back on track, beginning with a crucial home fixture against BUL FC on Saturday, April 12th.
KCCA FC fans and stakeholders will be watching closely to see whether Magera can inspire a late-season revival and restore confidence ahead of the next campaign.
