Kitara FC 1-1 KCCA FC – Royal Park, Butema
KCCA FC came from a goal down to secure a 1 all draw away to Kitara FC in thraway to Kitara FC in the Startimes Uganda Premier League new format match day one.
Sharif Ssengendo came from the bench to score the equaliser in the 81st minute to cancel out an early goal fro Kitara scored by Emmanuel Waiswa in the 5th minute.
Kitara FC started off on a high note pressing the KCCA FC team to defend in their own half from minute behind the fans support who rallied in large numbers behind the royals team.
Pressure saw KCCA FC concede a freekick in the 5th minute resulting in an early lead for the home side as it was headed in by Emmanuel Waiswa as goalkeeper Charles Lukwago failed to time a cross in the box.
Kitara dominated the midfield pack as Waiswa , Frank Zaga and Ssenoga played their hearts out to the first half end in 1-0 home lead.
The second half saw coach Brian Senyondo make a couple of changes as the introduction of Alex Yiga and Sharif Ssengendo gave KCCA FC dominance in the final third and with just 9minites left to play for, Ssengendo sent in a powerful shot which beat the Kitara FC goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige for an equaliser.
A 1all draw looks to be a fair results for both sides as they are fighting to end the first round in the top eight teams for a qualification slot in the second round.
Elsewhere, new league comers Buhimba United saints secured a 1-0 away victory against fellow newcomers Entebbe UPPC, Lugazi were the biggest winners on the day with a 3-1 victory against Calvary.
BUL FC played out to a goaless draw against URA FC as Police managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Mbarara City.
