Kawempe Muslim Ladies continued their impressive run in Ugandan women’s football as forward Agnes Nabukenya and head coach Ayubu Khalifa Kiyingi were on Tuesday crowned Finance Trust Bank Player and Coach of the Month for November.

The awards were handed over during a ceremony held at the Finance Trust Bank head office in Kampala, presided over by the Bank’s Chief Operations Officer, Sarah Gwokyalya.

Coach Ayubu beat Kampala Queens’ head coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal to the November coaching accolade after guiding his team to four wins in four matches, a perfect run that kept Kawempe Muslim at the top of the Finance Trust Women Super League with 25 points, five ahead of their nearest competitors. Asefa’s side managed three wins out of four games.

Speaking at the event, Gwokyalya commended the media for its role in promoting women’s football. She noted that the bank remains committed to supporting the sport alongside the media and FUFA to ensure it receives the attention it deserves.

Ayubu, visibly grateful, attributed his success to collective effort. He said the award was a result of teamwork from the coaching staff and disciplined players.

On the players’ side, last season’s MVP Agnes Nabukenya reclaimed the spotlight after an outstanding month in which she scored four goals and picked up two Player of the Match awards. She edged fellow teammate Saidat Namwanje, who kept three clean sheets, and Kampala Queens forward Catherine Nagadya, who also scored four goals.

Nabukenya said her ambitions for the season remain unchanged helping her team win the league, finishing as the top scorer, and defending her MVP crown.

The ceremony also recognised media excellence. Henry Gwase of Sanyuka Prime and Nsereko Musoke Issa of Nimsport were voted November’s best journalists and will share UGX 500,000 courtesy of Finance Trust Bank.

This marks the eighth edition of the bank’s initiative to celebrate standout performers in women’s football, a drive that continues to boost motivation and visibility in the local women’s game.
