JT Jaguars 65:50 City Oilers
In a highly anticipated National Basketball League showdown at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday night, the JT Jaguars put an end to the City Oilers’ four-game winning streak with a commanding 64–49 victory.
The Jaguars led from start to finish, outplaying the defending champions in every quarter and completing a regular-season sweep over the Oilers.
The Oilers entered the game riding a wave of momentum, having bounced back from a narrow loss to Sommet BC with four consecutive wins.
However, their run was abruptly halted by a sharp and disciplined Jaguars side that executed their game plan to near perfection.
City Oilers opened the scoring with a quick three-pointer and briefly held a five-point lead early in the first quarter.
But the Jaguars responded with intensity, taking control by the first timeout with a 13–5 advantage.
They went on to close the quarter ahead 18–12, capitalizing on the Oilers’ missed opportunities from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line.
The second quarter saw more of the same as the Jaguars maintained their defensive pressure while steadily building a lead.
The Oilers struggled to find offensive rhythm, often missing rebounds and failing to convert from the charity stripe.
By halftime, JT Jaguars had extended their advantage to 36–26.
Despite the Oilers showing some fight in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 10 points midway through, the Jaguars stayed composed.
They punished every defensive lapse and maintained a consistent scoring tempo.
A late surge helped JT stretch the lead to 49–37 heading into the final frame.
Aaron John Eboyu’s driving lay-up at the start of the fourth quarter reignited the Jaguars, and their offensive efficiency kept the Oilers at bay.
City Oilers’ Benjamin Kawani was flawless from the free-throw line, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback as the Jaguars closed out the game with a convincing 15-point lead.
The Oilers’ offense sputtered throughout the contest, with only Joseph Chuma reaching double figures, finishing with 11 points.
In contrast, the Jaguars showcased balanced scoring, led by Fadhili (13 points), Eboyu (11 points), and Were Mark (11 points), underlining their team-oriented approach.
The victory not only breaks the Oilers’ win streak but also signals that the Jaguars are serious contenders this season, having now beaten the league giants twice in the regular season.
