Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei has defended his 10,000m World title.
This is after he finished first in the 10,000m race at the 2022 World Athletics Championship in Oregon, USA on Sunday.
Cheptegei clocked 27:27.45 to beat off Stanley Waithaka Mburu (Kenya) and compatriot Jacob Kiplimo at the Hayward Field.
The 25-year old won the 10,000m title in Doha in 2019 when he clocked 26:48.36 to beat Yomif Kejelcha (Ethiopia) and Kenya’s Rhonex Kipruto at the Khalifa International Stadium.
Cheptegei becomes the fourth athlete to have defended the Men’s 10,000m World title afterHaile Gebrselassie, Kenenisa Bekele and Mo Farah.
