JKL Lady Dolphins finish sixth at FIBA Africa women’s basketball league qualifiers

The Uganda women’s basketball champions, JKL Lady Dolphins, concluded their FIBA Africa Women’s Basketball League Qualifiers campaign with a 6th place finish in Zanzibar.

Having lost their final game at the tournament by 56:59 against Kenya’s Equity Bank despite having a 35:30 halftime lead.

Their tournament began promisingly, with convincing wins over Burundi’s Young Sisters (91-54) and Tanzania’s Vijana Queens (87-55).

However, their momentum was halted by Egypt’s Al Ahly (61-100) in their final group game and another loss against Rwanda’s REG (57-67) in the quarterfinals.

They picked up another win, a 77-45 victory over Burundi’s Gladiators, setting up Sunday’s classification match against Kenya’s Equity Bank.

Egypt’s Al Ahly were crowned champions after a 93-69 win against Rwanda’s champions Rwanda Energy Group(REG).

Both finalists also earned direct qualification to the Women Basketball League Africa in Dakar, Senegal this December.
