Both Uganda Cranes and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana head into Friday’s encounter with a secured spot at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morroco.

However there is still something worth fighting for which is pride and that small but big element will push the sides to exhibit a battle on the pitch of play.

While speaking to journalists on Thursday afternoon in Namboole, Bafana Bafana Captain Ronwen Williams spoke about how special it is for them to play at the Mandela National stadium, named after former South African President and icon of the anti-apartheid era, Nelson Mandela.

“We feel at home, it gives me goosebumps knowing what Mandela has done for SouthAfrica and Africa as a whole. We will go out tomorrow and do what he used to do which is fight and never give up.” He said

The Yashin trophy nominee at this year’s ballon dor also promised that they’ll play in memory of Mandela.

“We shall do our best and make him proud, he’ll be looking down and smiling.” He added

Tomorrow’s venue is deeply rooted to SouthAfrica, even though it was built on a Chinese government grant and originally named Namboole stadium.

It was later renamed Mandela National stadium in respect of one of Africa’s greatest sons and the first time it was officially opened to the public was for a concert of SouthAfrican musician, the late Lucky Dube.

Uganda will face South Africa on 15th November at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, before traveling to Congo for the final qualifier match four days later.
