Iloku Esther’s remarkable century guided Senior Quarters Cricket Club to the top of the SCA Ladies’ 50 Over Elite League, as they set a formidable target of 198 runs against Campswahili Cricket Club at St. Mary’s Madera ground.

Iloku’s impressive innings of 118 runs off 128 balls was supported by Ariokot Malisa, who contributed a solid 27 runs off 44 deliveries.

In response, Campswahili struggled to chase the target, collapsing for just 129 runs in 39.2 overs.

Abonyo Rodha provided some resistance with 25 runs off 71 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup faltered.

Notably, in a tournament where senior players are restricted from bowling, Senyi Grace shone for Senior Quarters, claiming three wickets.

Iloku’s outstanding performance earned her the Player of the Match award, which included a cash prize from the chairman of Soroti Cricket Academy, Felix Musana who even commended her for good batting display.

In other matches last weekend, Pamba Cricket Club dominated Nakatunya Cricket Club, bowling them out for a mere 51 runs in 10 overs.

Alako Proscovia was the only notable scorer with 34 runs, while the rest of the Nakatunya lineup failed to contribute.

Pamba’s bowlers, led by Amayo Martha with 4 wickets, alongside Anyait Teddy (3 wickets) and Anyait Lorn (2 wickets), delivered a stellar performance.

In a straightforward chase, Lorna Anyait finished unbeaten with 21 runs off 43 balls, while Atim Judith added 13 off 37, securing an 8-wicket victory for Pamba.

The tournament began with Campswahili defeating Pamba by 9 wickets, setting the stage for a competitive series.

The participating teams represent cricketing communities in Soroti and include SCA graduates from Kampala, who travel to Soroti for weekend matches.

Currently, Senior Quarters leads the standings on net run rate, tied with Pamba and Campswahili, each with two points. Nakatunya sits at the bottom without any points.

Iloku Esther is the top run-scorer with 118 runs, while Sophia Bogere leads the bowling charts with 4 wickets.

Looking ahead, this weekend features an exciting matchup as Pamba faces Senior Quarters at Madera ground, while Nakatunya takes on Campswahili at City Oval.
