A 14 woman She Cranes squad set to take part in the 2024 Africa Netball Championship, Namibia was announced on Wednesday 4th December.

The team includes Five (5) defenders, Four (4) mid court players and Five (5) shooters.

Defenders

Sandra Nambirige, Nakitto Christine, Kadondi Falidah, Haniisha Muhameed, Ayaa Gloria.

Mid-court

Margret Baagala, Nakibuule Joyce, Filedaus Namulema, Batamuliza Mercy

Shooters

Irene Eyaru (captain), Namulumba Christine Kango, Nassanga Shadia, Mary Nuba Cholhok, Racheal Nanyonga.

Among the team, focus is shifted to NIC’s Ayaa Gloria, a new name in the squad which comes in with experience having previously taken home Most Valuable Player accolade in the 2023 East Africa Netball Championship .

After receiving her maiden international call up, the 20 year old swift defender caught up with Jackson Kayiira;

“Before the names were out, everyone was wondering, who is going and who is staying, but I am happy the I got a chance to make the final travelling squad, I have worked for this and I was yearning for it.” said a happy Ayaa.

“Of course when I am given a chance to play, I will give 100% on the court and even help my team to perform.” She added.

The team has got more new faces like Filedaus Namulema and experienced returnee from NIC netball club, Racheal Nanyonga.

Uganda is returning to Netball Africa championship since 2021 when the finished second behind South Africa. 

Under the guidance of Head Coach Nelson James Bogere team shall throw off on 09th December at MTC DOME in Swakopmund Municipality in Namibia.
