Meble Namakoye and Oliva Nakajja secured bronze for Team Uganda in the Uganda International Badmintion series held at Lugogo Indoor stadium on Sunday afternoon.

This came pass after losing their Women singles semi final tie to the Indian Rawat sisters (Gayatri Rawat and Mansa Rawat) who later went on to clinch Gold after winning the final over UAE’s Nidhi Desai and Sreeyutha Sreejith Parol.

Despite the fact that many Ugandan players made it the quarter finals, they did not pass the test to go further with many citing difference in shuttle nature compared what they were training with;

“We have been training using nylon shuttles but this time round we had to adapt to feather shuttles” one of the bronze medalist Olivia Nakajja said

Adding that:” We are going to ask our coaches to help us with the feather kind of shuttles so we can get used to them and compete with these people from all around the globe”

“However on the positive note, this is my first international medal and looking forward I hope to do better in the upcoming City Tyres tournament slated for 17th October”
