Hon. Eng. Moses Magogo Hassim has been overwhelmingly re-elected unopposed as President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for the 2025–2029 term. The confirmation came during the 101st FUFA Elective General Assembly at the newly inaugurated Hoima Resort Hotel on Saturday, 5 July 2025.

Magogo, first elected in 2013, has now become the longest-serving FUFA president, embarking on a 16-year tenure by 2029. His re-election done by acclamation since he faced no challengers reflects broad stakeholder confidence in his leadership.

Speakers during the assembly included FIFA Regional Lead Davis Ndayisenga, Ministry for Sports’ Sammy Odongo, and Oweek Robert Serwanga, Minister for Sports in the Buganda Kingdom.

In his acceptance address, Magogo outlined an ambitious strategy structured around five pillars:

  1. Sport development: Implementing the FUFA Technical Master Plan and overhauling domestic competitions.

  2. Commercial growth: Boosting revenues, ensuring fair compensation, and strengthening FUFA’s commercial brand.

  3. Tournament hosting: Leverage Uganda’s co-hosting of CHAN and AFCON 2027 as transformational events.

  4. Stakeholder engagement: Actively involving clubs, sponsors, government, and the public.

  5. Consolidation: Building on past achievements with enhanced institutional focus.

He praised internal and external stakeholders for their support, saying:

In 2013, certain things seemed impossible, but today they have become basic. Our success is defined by the know‑how we’ve acquired… driven by passion and hunger”.

Challenges and Renewed Commitments

Despite acknowledging strides in infrastructure and governance, Magogo warned that financial sustainability remains a major hurdle, especially for club-level football. He pledged to address integrity concerns and expand grassroots football programming.

Executive Team and Continuity

The new Executive Committee maintains substantial continuity, with individuals like Justus Mugisha (1st Vice President) and Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi (3rd Vice President) being reappointed. New members include Dr. Twaib Azar as 2nd Vice President, replacing the deceased Darius Mugoye, along with Deo Mutabazi and Ronald Barente.

Endorsements and Reactions

Uganda Cranes coach Paul Put congratulated Magogo, adding that he looks forward to working closely with the re‑elected administration to strengthen national team success.
