Absa Bank Uganda has announced an increase on it’s sponsorship towards the 2023 Captain’s Bell Tournament at the Uganda Golf Club.

The 2023 edition will see Absa pump in UGX 133,198,000/= , which is almost triple the amount (57 millions) that was pumped in last year by the leading financial services institution.

The Captain’s Bell tournament is an annual event hosted by the Uganda Golf Club, where the newly elected captain hosts members in a tournament and unveils his new committee at the beginning of his term in office.

Emmanuel Wamala is still the captain while Paul Fitzgerald Nuwagaba is his Vice. These two were re-elected for a second term to lead the committee.

Speaking at the press conference to announce the sponsorship on Thursday morning at Uganda Golf Club, Absa Bank Uganda’s Managing Director Mumba Kalifungwa said they are proud to come on board once again with Uganda Golf Club.

“We take great pride in the fact that we are a true proponent of the game of golf in Uganda, and it is through partnerships like the one we are strengthening here today that we can continue having an impact that will be felt for generations to come, in line with our new purpose – which is to empower Africa’s tomorrow, together, one story at a time.”

From the sponsorship amount, UGX 40,000,000 will go to Uganda Golf Club while the rest will go towards the event and professional golfs kitty.
