GM Sugar XI Triumphs in first edition of the MMP CUP JINJA 2025

The MMP CUP JINJA 2025, held from February 9 to March 23, was a thrilling tournament featuring 12 teams from India and Pakistan, competing in 10-over matches with tennis balls.

The competition was fierce, but after weeks of excitement, four teams qualified for the final stage: GM Sugar XI – A, Chennai Kings, Mukono Warriors, and GM Sugar XI – B.

In the first semi-final, GM Sugar XI – A faced off against Chennai Kings.

Chennai Kings won the toss and chose to field first. GM Sugar XI – A set an imposing target, scoring 163 runs in their 10 overs.

Despite Chennai Kings’ best efforts, GM Sugar XI – A’s dominant performance in both batting and fielding secured them an 84-run victory, advancing them to the final.

The second semi-final saw GM Sugar XI – B take on Mukono Warriors.

Mukono Warriors won the toss and opted to field. GM Sugar XI – B struggled, posting only 64 runs in their 10 overs.

Mukono Warriors chased down the modest total with ease, winning by 6 wickets and booking their place in the final.

The third and final semi-final had Chennai Kings taking on Mukono Warriors.

Chennai Kings, once again, won the toss and chose to field first. Mukono Warriors managed to score 98 runs in their 10 overs.

Chennai Kings, with their solid batting line-up, chased down the target comfortably, winning by 6 wickets and securing a spot in the grand finale.

The stage was set for the final, where GM Sugar XI – A and Chennai Kings would battle for supremacy.

GM Sugar XI – A won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a target of 137 runs in their 10 overs. Chennai Kings, under pressure, could only manage 84 runs in their chase.

GM Sugar XI – A’s strong bowling and fielding proved too much for Chennai Kings, and they won the final by 53 runs, securing the MMP CUP JINJA 2025 trophy.
