Day Four of the MAXX T20 Challenge Cup at Entebbe Cricket oval delivered drama both on and off the field, with rain interruptions testing teams’ resilience.
The Gladiators, the tournament’s only unbeaten side, shone brightest: Aziz Abdul Tandia’s stunning 5/4 spell decimated the Strikers, while Paul Mulongo’s calm, composed innings guided his team to a memorable victory.

The morning had already offered excitement as the Blasters faced the Royals.
A light drizzle at Entebbe delayed the start, reducing the contest to 18 overs per side, before further interruptions cut the Blasters’ innings to 17 overs and the Royals’ chase to 12 under the Duckworth-Lewis calculation.
Jonathan Ssebanja anchored the Blasters’ innings with a controlled 43* off 28 balls, while Anas Baig contributed 37 off 30, guiding the side to 116/5 despite tight spells from Mathew Musinguzi (3/17) and Yashashvi Joshi (2/19).

Chasing a revised target of 91, Simon Ssesazi dazzled with 48 off 34 balls, and Abraiz Mir Ali added 26 off 20.
Their 42-run partnership off 27 balls set the platform for the Royals, and despite some fielding lapses, Peter Ochen’s catch denied Ssesazi a fifty by just two runs.
The Royals reached their target in 10.5 overs at 91/5, securing a five-wicket (D/L) victory.
In the afternoon, the Gladiators faced the Strikers in a rain-shortened clash.
Early resistance from Strikers captain Robinson Obuya (33 off 25) and opener Fortunate Alijuna (25 off 19) could not prevent a collapse from 70/2 to 79/7 by the 13th over.

Edwin Nuwagaba struck in that over, and Tandia’s devastating spell dismantled the Strikers’ middle and lower order, skittling them for 82 in 14 overs.

Chasing 83, the Gladiators slipped to 31/5, but Paul Mulongo anchored the innings with a mature 39 off 28, supported by Nuwagaba (15) and Jonathan Kizza (9*).
With three runs required in the final over, Mulongo’s boundary to fine leg sealed a four-wicket victory at 83/6 in 14.1 overs.
Tomorrow promises more action as the Warriors take on the Titans in the morning, followed by the Blasters clashing with the Gladiators in the afternoon.
