Futsal Super league: Mengo becomes first team to advance to the semi-finals

Mengo FC have became the first teams to progress to the semi-finals of the 2021 Futsal Super league. This is after they garnered a vital victory on Saturday morning at the Old Kampala Sports Arena.

Having drawn their last game against Big Talent SA, Mengo FC returned to winning ways after they comfortably defeated Aidenal 5-1 in the first game at the Arena.

Said Mayanja broke the deadlock for Mengo in the opening stages of the games but his goal was quickly cancelled out by Kalanzi Denis for the game to go into the break with the scores tied.

But Mengo netted four goals in the second half and were solid at the back to cruise to a comfortable victory. Mayanja completed his brace while Lamech Mwebaza, Maawiyah Abdullah and John Ben Nakibenge were also on target.

With the win, Mengo have now booked their semi-final spot after garnering 10 points in 4 games while Aidenal SOSA stay third on the log with three points.

In the second game of the day, Park Futsal Club claimed their first win this season after they overcame Kisenyi FC 6-1.Park were brilliant in the first half, netting three quick goals courtesy of brilliant strikes by Abas Junior, Kalyango Samuel and Iddi Babu but Kisenyi pulled a goal just before the break through Nsereko Brian’s spot kick.

In the second half, it was one way traffic as Junior completed his hat-trick while Samuel completed his brace to ensure their side claimed their maiden victory.

Big Talent Soccer Academy made a dramatic comeback to secure a point from Kampala Junior Team FC after a 4-4 scoreline.

KJT started the game the brightest and took the first half, leading 2-1 at the break courtesy of Billy Nkata and Abas Kyeyune strikes.

KJT began the second half like how they started the first, imposing alot of pressure on Big Talent defense and from their pressures, they were rewarded with two goal to extend their lead to 4-1 with less than 10 minutes to the death of the game.

But Farouk Tumwesigye, Kaye Ronald and Blachar Mulamba netted three late goals to propel Big Talent to a dramatic 4-all stalemate.

With the stalemate, Big Talent stay unbeaten with 8 points garnered in four games while KJT have now garnered their first point this season, having lost all their first three games.

In the last game of the day, Synergy came from a goal down to defeat Yeak Kabowa 5-3 to extend their lead atop of the Victoria Nile group to five points.

Yasin Sabir was the starman for Synergy as he was on target twice to propel his side to the well deserved victory. Travis Mutyaba netted the other goal for Synergy while Ssempira Timothy and Bruno Ssegirinya were on target for Kabowa.

Synergy  have now garnered 10 points in 4 games, five points above Park FC who sit second.

Action will resume next weekend with the Match day fives fixtures at the same ground, Old Kampala Sports Arena
