Mengo City continued their impressive run in the 2024/25 betPawa Futsal Super League, edging QC Mbarara 2-1 in a tightly contested match at Old Kampala Futsal Arena on Friday, March 7, 2025.
The victory kept them within four points of league leaders Park FC, who also won on the day.
Returning from a month-long break, Ian Tugume gave Mengo City the perfect start, scoring just five minutes into the game.
Sharifu Opuuli extended the lead early in the second half, putting Mengo in control before Arafat Ssentongo pulled one back for QC Mbarara midway through the half.
The win extended Mengo City’s unbeaten run to 12 matches, having not lost a game since their opening-day defeat to Park FC, who remain the biggest hurdle in their title ambitions.
League leaders Park FC showed no signs of slowing down, securing a commanding 5-2 victory over Kisugu FC.
With top scorer Abasi Muluya Junior still absent, Jalil Zamula took charge, netting a hat trick, two in the first half, including the opener, and another in the second.
Joshua Aziku and Alfred Ssebunya added a goal each while Umar Luswabi and Ahmed Miti Kayongo scored consolation goals for Kisugu.
With the win, Park FC reached 34 points after 13 rounds, keeping a four point cushion over second-placed Mengo City.
The matchday saw six thrilling encounters, with the title race intensifying and teams battling to improve their standings.
