She Corporate FC needed two goals inside the closing minutes of the game against UCU Lady Cardinals to stage a stunning comeback 2-1 victory in Mukono.
Despite conceding as early as the 12th minute, the Sharks kept the belief until the closing stages of the game played on Saturday 5th March 2022 at UCU Ground in Mukono.
Towering defender Shadia Nankya gave UCU Lady Cardinals the lead and they clearly looked destined to a victory until their resilience was broken down at the very end.
With two minutes left on the clock, She Corporate won a penalty after Mercy Nabulobi handled the ball in the box. Favor Nambatya did no mistake to slot it home from 12 yards.
Substitute Susan Atim, who had replaced Grace Nassongo got the winner for the visitors two minutes into added time, thanks to a neat pass from Ronah Regina Nantege after some good work by Nabumba Phionah.
Victory means She Corporate FC move top of the table on 13 points from five game, three ahead of UCU Lady Cardinals who now drop to second place.
In the other main game at Prison Grounds, Luzira on Sunday evening, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory on road over struggling She Maroons FC.
Goals came in from Phiona Nabulime and defender Asia Nakibuuka as early as the 10th and 14th minute of first half respectively.
Nabulime, who had earned her first start for Kawempe gave the visitors a lead after a good press in the box by Shakira Nyinagahirwa after Maroons defense had failed to clear off the ball from the area.
Four minutes later, Nakibuuka got the second goal following reckless goalkeeping by Jackline Adong who failed to handle a cross brought in by Nakibuuka from the left hence the ball going off her hands and straight into the back of the net.
This led to the She Maroons tactician Sida Olowo to put Adong off the pitch and replacing her with Esther Akujo.
She Maroons who have no win this season tried to get a consolation before the game ended but Kawempe with their coach Ayubu Khalifa Kiyingi looked to be a hard nut to crack.
After the game, Ayubu Khalifa came out and said “The girls played not that good, somethings have been lacking but winning a game away from home is good for us.”
In five games played, She Maroons has only one point and currently sits on the bottom of the table of ten teams.
