In a significant step toward cross-sport collaboration, a delegation from Cricket Uganda, led by Chairman Jackson Kavuma, CEO Evelyn Kabongerwa, and Head of Public Relations Innocent Ndawula, paid a courtesy visit to FUFA House.
The delegation was warmly received by FUFA President, Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim, in a meeting that signaled growing ties between the two national sports governing bodies.
Chairman Kavuma expressed gratitude for FUFA’s exemplary leadership in sports management, saying:
“We greatly admire FUFA’s approach to sports administration and the strategic systems you have in place.
There’s much we can learn from your model, and this meeting sets the stage for a stronger relationship that will benefit both our disciplines and contribute to the broader development of sports in Uganda.”
Notably, the collaborative spirit between the two bodies has historical roots.
During the recent Cricket Uganda board elections that brought Kavuma and his team into office, FUFA’s Deputy CEO, Mr. Kiiza Decolas, served as the Returning Officer — a gesture that underlines the trust and cooperation already in place between the institutions.
FUFA President Hon. Magogo emphasized the Federation’s openness to partnerships across all sports disciplines:
“We are always ready to collaborate with fellow sports federations. Cricket Uganda brings a strong vision and capable leadership, and we are honored to host such a committed delegation.”
During their visit, the Cricket Uganda officials toured key facilities including the FUFA Complex — home to the Secretariat, 102 FUFA FM, FUFA TV studios — and the FUFA Stadium Kadiba.
As a symbol of goodwill, the visitors were presented with customized Uganda Cranes jerseys and commemorative books marking FUFA’s centenary.
Both football and cricket are actively working to align with the new National Sports Act, particularly on compliance areas such as sport development reach across the country.
This meeting marked an important step toward sharing knowledge and resources that will help both federations meet these national objectives more effectively.
