FTWSL: Namata effect propels Kampala Queens past Amus College

Anita Namata scored her first goal of the season as Kampala Queens humbled Amus College at the Phillip Omondi stadium on Saturday morning.

Namata doubled the Queens’ goal tally just two minutes to end the opening half after Shamusa Najjuma had opened the score ten minutes into the game.

The Lugogo based side had a good display over the school girls under their new head coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal.

After the game, a happy Namata acknowledged the WOTM accolade and cited that it will push her;

“Am happy to have this woman of the match accolade, it will push me to work harder” she said

“We have really enjoyed playing football today and I think you could easily see where the goal was coming from” Namata concluded

The result took Kampala Queens with in a point of Kawempe who remain top on 13 while Amus currently lay 6th with 8 points.

In their next games, the Queens will visit Lady Doves in Masindi on Saturday 16th November while Amus host Uganda Martyrs on the same day in Bukedea.

Other games on the day saw Exprienced Makerere University WFC beat a teenage Wakiso Hill 3-0 at the University play ground.

The hosts goals were netted by Jemima Twesigye, Zaina Namuleme and Eva Nagayi

For She Maroons, they played out a 1-1 with Nakawa side She Corporate in Luzira, Lilian Kasuubo back on the score sheets for host side and Jessica Namanda for the visitors.

Sunday 10th November will see table Leaders Kawempe Muslim host Lady Doves at the school play grounds as Rines SS take a short trip to Bugolobi to face Uganda Martyrs.
