- Kawempe Muslim 1-4 Kampala Queens
- Olila H/S 1-0 Uganda Martyrs
Rare occasion turning to a new normal as Kampala Queens beat Kawempe Muslim at the Valley Grounds on Sunday morning to claim top
A Shamusa Najjuma brace, Asia Nakibuuka and Shamira Nalugya goals secured maximum points for the visitors while Shadia Nabirye nicked Kawempe’s leveler to later turn out as a consolation at the brink of the First Round closure.
In a game that saw Kampala Queens start on the front foot, Najjuma netted as early as 12 minutes into the game before Nabirye leveled matters 11 minutes later.
However on-day form forward Najjuma restored the forward’s lead with a shot into the goal’s roof top to edge Kawempe Muslim.
Three minutes past the half hour, Nakibuuka struck a long range worldie from her own half past Kawempe goalkeeper Josephine Nambuya and Hadijja Babirye who attempted to clear it off the line in-order to double Kawempe Queens Lead.
Despite more attempts by Kawempe to come back into the game, Kampala Queens defenders and shot stopper Daisy Nakaziro were up to the task to end the opening half 1-3.
After restart, the defensive patterns continued but long range shots were the order of the day on Kampala Queens despite giving away multiple free kicks.
Two minutes to conclude the game, team Captain Nalugya perfected the shot she took a few minutes earlier from the right out past Nambuya in goal.
The game ended 1-4 in favour of Kampala Queens to hand Kawempe their first loss of the campaign.
This win gave Kampala Queens an edge at the top of the table with 25 points, one more than opponent Kawempe Muslim.
The other game of the day saw Olila High edge Uganda Martyrs 1-0 in Soroti.
