Park FC’s grip on the Futsal Super League top spot has weakened, with their lead shrinking to just two points following a 2-2 draw against Kabuusu Clouds on Friday at Old Kampala Futsal Arena.
Coming into the game, Park FC enjoyed a comfortable four point cushion over their closest challengers, Mengo City.
However, Mengo City’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Kisenyi FC earlier in the evening ramped up the pressure.
Sharifu Opuuli sealed the win for Mengo City, adding to goals from Arafat Kabanda, Abdulkarim Tebera, and Opuuli himself.
Park FC had an opportunity to restore their advantage but found themselves trailing twice in a tense encounter.
Jalil Zimula responded to Gaddafi Bazanyanengo’s early opener, and Michael Abura salvaged a point just before halftime after Najib Muwonge had put Clouds ahead again.
With 35 points, Park FC remains at the summit, but Mengo City is now just two points behind, keeping the title race wide open.
Park’s next challenge is against Lubaga Grameen, the only side to have beaten them this season, while Mengo City takes on Kisugu FC in their pursuit of the top spot.
