The Mukono region is abuzz as the highly anticipated fourth edition of the Deep End Schools Cricket Tournament gears up to kick off in style on Sunday, September 21st, 2025.

Organized by Deep End Sports Media in partnership with the Mukono Cricket Community, the annual event aims to nurture young cricket talent, providing students with playing time, game awareness, and skill development through structured competition.

This year’s tournament welcomes four debutantsBusoga College Mwiri, Shree Sahajanad School, Delhi Public International School, and St. Johns High School Kauga—bringing fresh energy and competitiveness to the field.

The tournament’s past editions have seen rising dominance among local schools.

Jinja SS and Takajunge Community Team took home the inaugural girls’ and boys’ titles, respectively.

In the second edition, Mukono Kings High School (girls) and St. Cornelius SS Kalagala (boys) emerged victorious.

Last year, St. Cornelius SS Kalagala and Mukono Kings High School successfully defended their crowns in the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively—and both teams are looking to do the same this year.

To expand the tournament’s reach, select matches will be streamed live, allowing supporters who can’t attend to follow the action remotely.

Schools like St. Cornelius, Mukono Kings, and Mt. St. Henry’s High School have also committed to installing projectors so students can cheer on their teams from school.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Simon Kintu, Chairman of the Mukono Cricket Community and head of the local organizing committee, confirmed that preparations are complete.

He praised the teams for their dedication and highlighted the growing excitement, particularly the fierce rivalry between defending champions Mukono Kings and St. Cornelius.

Matches will be played at four venues: Gayaza Ground, Namagunga Ground, Takajunge Ground, and Mt. St. Henry’s Ground (Florida Oval).

The format remains a single round-robin, with the top four teams in each category advancing to the semifinals—1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd—followed by the finals.

The Deep End Schools Cricket Tournament continues to promote youth engagement and sports development in the Mukono region and is expected to deliver another thrilling chapter in Ugandan school cricket.
