Fahad Bayo once again scored the all important goal as the Cranes defeated Rwanda on Sunday at matchday four of w 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Bayo’s strike came midway the opening half to help Uganda complete a double over their neighbors.

The Ashdod forward also netted the lone goal as Uganda defeated Rwanda in Kigali last week.

The game started with Uganda dominating proceedings but the Amavubi Stars had the first attempt at goal. Ange Mutsinzi blazed  the ball over the crossbar.

Uganda had their first attempt at goal in the 10th minute and nearly took the lead but no one failed to connect with a brilliant Isaac Muleme’s freekick after Steven Mukwala was fouled outside the box.

Uganda came close agaib in the 21st minute but Moses Waiswa failed to find the target after getting past Nirisarike Salomon.

But two minutes afterwards, Uganda deservedly took the lead through Fahad Bayo’s header.Bayo rose high to head in a deflected Muleme cornerkick.

Bayo would have gotten his second of the game 13 minutes before halftime but the Ashdod SC striker failed to find the target after being found unmarked in the box by Denis Iguma.

Charles Lukwago made his first saves of the game with the halftime break approaching as he easily saved Mutsinzi and Kevin Muhire’s efforts.

The game went into the break with the Cranes having dominated most of the proceedings and holding a slim 1-0 advantage.

Just like in the opening half, Rwanda had the first attempt of the second but Mutsinzi couldn’t head in a well driven Rafael York freekick.

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic made the first two changes of the game, bringing on Livingstone Mulondo for injured Timothy Awanyi and Martin Kizza for Muleme.

But before the change, Mukwala had a chance to double Cranes’ advantage but his effort went to the side net.

Micho made two other changes after the hour mark, bringing on both Yunus Sentamu and Ibrahim Orit for Mukwala and Waiswa respectively.

The game witnessed it’s first caution in the 75th minute after Yannick Mukunzi was yellow carded for a foul on Bayo just outside the box.

From the resulting freekick, Sentamu agnozingly put his effort few inches over the upright.

Micho’s boys held in the later minutes of the game to see out the entire 90 minutes.

The victory means Uganda have completed a double over Rwanda, having also beaten their neighbors 1-0 in Kigali last week.

Uganda now move to eight points garnered in their opening four games  of this qualification round.
