FIBA World Cup qualifiers: Uganda pitted in group A with Nigeria

The Uganda Men’s Basketball team, Silverbacks has been pitted in group A of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers.

In the group stages draw made on Tuesday afternoon, Uganda will lock horns with Nigeria, Mali and Cape Verde.

All the teams at the 2021 AfroBasket will take part in the African qualifiers and have been drawn in four groups of four teams each.

The top two will progress from each group and top five teams at the end of the qualifiers will qualify for the final round of the qualification.

This is the second time Uganda will be taking part in these qualifiers having finished bottom of their group in 2019.

The qualifiers are scheduled from November 2021 to February 2023.

Three countries, Phillipinnes, Japan and Indonesia will host the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Group A – Cape Verde, Mali, Uganda, Nigeria

Group B – South Sudan, Cameroon, Tunisia, Rwanda

Group C – Ivory Coast, Guinea, Central Africa Republic, Angola

Group D – Kenya, Senegal, Egypt, DR Congo
