On Match-day Two of the Batball Max, Emerald remained the only unbeaten team in the tournament, while Sapphire secured their first victory.

Emerald triumphed over Gold by 81 runs, while Sapphire defeated Ruby by 6 wickets.

Gold won the toss and opted to bowl first, but Emerald’s solid batting lineup set a formidable total.

Suleman Sharif (30), Ronald Lutaaya (44), and Irfan Karim (41) powered the team to 165/5 in 20 overs, a total that seemed achievable given Gold’s batting strength.

However, Gold’s chase quickly faltered.

They were reduced to 6/2 within the first two overs, losing key hitters Robinson Obuya and Oscar Manishimwe.

The collapse continued as they slipped to 13/4, with Wassim Butt and Kenneth Waiswa following soon after.

The innings never gained momentum, and veteran Frank Nsubuga exploited the situation, taking 4 wickets.

At one point, he had figures of 2/2 in 2 overs, finishing with a full spell that dismantled Gold’s batting lineup as he completed his spell with 4 wickets.

In the second game of the day, Ruby won the toss and chose to bat first, but their innings failed to take off.

Roger Mukasa (29) and Anas Baig (24) offered some resistance, but Ruby was ultimately all out for just 116 in 18.3 overs.

Musa Majid Ramathan and Kakaire Timothy were the standout bowlers for Sapphire, taking three wickets each, while Henry Ssenyondo added two wickets to the mix.

Despite early top-order struggles in Sapphire’s, Collins Obuya steadied the ship, scoring a crucial 47 off 27 balls.

Joseph Baguma’s excellent bowling (2 wickets at an economy rate of 4.67) kept the pressure on, but Sapphire eventually reached the target with 6 wickets to spare, securing their first win of the tournament.

Ruby remains the only winless team, and the action continues tomorrow with Ruby looking for their first victory against Gold in the morning.

In the afternoon, Emerald will take on Sapphire at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.
