The National Basketball League champions Namuwongo Blazers have seen their road to the Basketball Africa League (BAL) cut short after suffering defeats in both of their fixtures in the Elite 16 games held at Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi.

The Blazers suffered an 18 point loss in their first encounter against Nairobi City Thunders as they were put to the recieving end by an 80-62 scoreline on Tuesday evening.

An impressive run in their second game against South Africa’s Johannesburg Giants Basketball Club in the first stanza as they clinched a 25-23 lead put them in the driving seat but squandered by the half time going down by a 40-43 scoreline after the second stanza.

Johannesburg Giants did not put a foot wrong as they dominated the game winning by an 88-62 scoreline which put an end to the Blazers chase for the BAL games spot.
