The President of Uganda HE. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has advised the Ugandan 2020 Olympics team not to mix with anybody while in Japan.
Museveni made these remarks at the Flag off ceremony at the Kololo Independence grounds, Kampala on Friday.
Uganda will take 26 athletes to Tokyo who will compete in five disciplines: Athletics, Rowing, Swimming and Weightlifting.
“You need to be careful of Covid this time round because it has proved to be a very big issue” Museveni said before adding;
“Do not mix with anybody there and yes you are fully vaccinated but you can still catch the disease”
Museveni also congratulated all the athletes who qualified for the games and further told them to make the country proud by shinning.
“I congratulate all of you for qualifying for the games. You go there and don’t give up while competing so that you make yourself and country proud by shinning”
The 2020 Olympics was postponed from last year to this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will take place between July 23rd to August 8th.
