Diaspora: a preview on how Ugandans will turn up with their teams over the weekend

As we start this busy weekend, The Touchline Sports’ Edwin Waiswa takes you through how our players abroad will be faring in their respective leagues.

In Egypt, Striker Derrick Nsibambi is expected to lead the line as his side, Smouha SC takes on Tanta FC in the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday at the Alexandria stadium.

Nsibambi helped Smouha savage a 1-all draw against El Gaish in the midweek fixture as he scored their only goal.

Smouha SC sits seventh on the table with 28 points while Tanta SC leads the table from the bottom with just 16 points.

Midfielder Khalid Aucho will seek to help his El Makkasa side return to winning ways when they visit Harras El-Hedoud Stadium to take on ninth-placed Harras El-Hedoud on Monday. Smouha lost their last league game to Wadi Degla 3-1 on Thursday.

Midfielder Allan Kyambadde will hope for more playing time when El Gouna plays host to Al Mokawloon on Sunday at the El Gouna Stadium. Kyambadde started at right-back as El Gouna fell 1-0 to Al Ahly on Wednesday.

In France, Dereck Kutesa‘s Reims FC will be up against Lille FC in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday. Reims started their Ligue 1  season with a 2-all draw with Monaco and Kutesa is expected to feature in the team’s second game as they continue the hunt for the first win.

The Absa Premiership defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns will be back in action on Sunday when they face Baroka Swallows FC. Denis Onyango who has been out of action for the last two games due to a quad injury is expected to take part when the Brazilians host the relegation-threatened side.

Moses Waiswa is expected to still be out due to illness and injury as SuperSports United takes on Orlando Pirates on Saturday at the Elis Stadium. Waiswa hasn’t featured since the resumption of the Absa Premier Soccer League.

In the USA, Mike Azira will be hoping for some playing times as his Chicago Fire visits New York City FC at the Redbulls Arena in the Major league Soccer on Sunday. Azira was an unused substitute when Chicago Fire won 3-0 against Cincinnati FC.

In the Czech National Football League, Isaac Muleme’s Viktoria Zizkov will take on Vysehrad in their second league game of the season on Sunday. Muleme featured in Zizkov’s 3-1 win against Taborsko last weekend.

In Estonia Meistriliiga, Edrisa Lubega will hope to continue with his impressive form as Paide Linnameskond takes on sixth-placed Tammeka. Edrisa Lubega ‘Torres’ sits second on the top scorers log with 11 goals and will hope to add on his tally this weekend.

In Sweden, Ritah Kivumbi is expected to make the matchday squad as her Mallabacken IF side visits Bollstanäs at Bollstanäs IP stadium on Sunday. Ritah was absent on Wednesday as Mallabacken lost 3-0 to Morön in the Swedish Elitetan.

Viola Nambi’s Vaxjo DFF will be away to Vittsjö in the Swedish Damallsvenskan game tomorrow.

In the Swedish Allsvenskan, Ronald Mukiibi and Isaak Ssewankambo will be in action as their Ostersunds FK takes on Falkenberg on Saturday. Ostersunds sits ninth on the log while Falkenberg is fourteenth.

In Israel, the Israel Premier League will commence today and Ashdod SC, the home of Timothy Awanyi and Fahad Bayo will play hosts to H. Kiryat Shmona at the Yud-Alef Stadium.

Meanwhile, in the Hapoel derby, Luwagga Kizito’s Hapoel Kfar Saba will host Hapoel Tel Aviv on Saturday at Levita Soccer Stadium.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi’s Motherwell will pay a visit to Celtics Park to play against the Scottish Premiership champions Celtics FC in the Matchday six encounter.
