Diaspora: Onyango saves 5, Ojok, Wadri and Mugabi on target – how Ugandan pros fared over the weekend

Another action-packed weekend for Ugandan professionals abroad in their respective leagues across the globe. Denis Onyango saved 5 shots from the penalty mark to help his side win the MTN8 while there were a few Ugandans who were on target over the weekend – This is how they fared over the weekend.

Starting off in South Africa, Former Cranes captain Denis Onyango was the hero for Mamelodi Sundowns as they defeated Cape Town  City 3-2 during the kicks from the penalty mark to clinch the MTN8. Onyango saved five of the seven penalties he faced after a 1-all score after Extra time.

In Kenya, former BUL FC forward Deogracious Ojok was a second-half substitute and got on the scoresheet with arguably the last kick of the game as Tusker FC defeated Wazito FC 2-0 in the FKF Premier League. William Wadri was also on target for Bandari United as they defeated Talanta FC 3-0.

In Zambia, Shafik Batambuze and Hashim Ssempala featured for Kabwe Warriors as they drew 1-all with Forrest Rangers in the Zambian Premier League.

In Tanzania, Mathias Kigonya started in goal for Azam FC as they lost 2-0 to Khalid Aucho’s Young Africans in the NBC Premier League. Aucho featured for Yanga FC while Nicholas Wadada never made the matchday squad. Still in Tanzania, Taddeo Lwanga was absent from the matchday squad as Simba SC drew goalless with  Costal Union.

In Congo, Joseph Ochaya featured for 71 minutes for TP Mazembe as they secured a 2-0 victory over As Simba Kamikazesi in the Congolese Linafoot.

In Algeria, Allan Okello started and helped Paradou AS secure their second consecutive victory after a 4-2 win over Oran in the Algeria Ligue 1.

Moving on to England, Striker Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru started and was taken off in the 41st minute with an injury as Midlesbourg FC lost 2-0 to Birmingham FC in the English Skybet Championship.

In the English Football League One, Jordan Obita was a second-half substitute as Wycombe Wanderers drew 3-all with Fleetwood while in the Conference League, Elvis Bwomono was still out injured as Southend United lost 1-0 to Boreham.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi was on target for 10-man Motherwell FC as they were humbled 6-1 by Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

In Ireland, Melvyn Lorenzen was an unused substitute as Sligo Rovers secured a 2-0 victory over Drogheda United in the Irish Premier Division.

In Denmark, Robert Kakeeto featured for Skiva IK as they secured a 2-0 victory over Hillerod in the Denmark 2nd Division.

In Israel, Fahad Bayo was sent off for Ashdod SC after being subbed on at halftime as they drew 2-all with Maccabi Haifa in the Isreal Premier League.

In the Czech Republic, Isaac Muleme featured for 80 minutes for Viktoria Zizkov as they drew goalless with Jihlava in the Czech Republic National Football League.

In Portugal, Edrisa Lubega was still out with an injury as Estrella da Amaddora drew goalless with Porto B.

In the USA, Mustafa Kizza was absent for Montreal Impact as they lost 1-0 to New York Red Bulls. Steven Sserwadda started and featured full time for New York Red Bulls II as they secured a 4-2 victory over Loudoun United in the USL.

Still in the USL, Mike Azira was introduced in the 71st minute for Juan Guzman as New Mexico United secured a 3-1 victory over Real Monarchs.

In Sweden, Ritah Kivumbi was an unused substitute as Mallabackens IF drew 2-2 with Brommapojkarna in the Swedish Elitetan.
