Diaspora: Okwi, Semujju, Lwasa, Wadri, Mululi all on target – how Ugandan professionals abroad fared over the weekend

It was another action packed weekend for Ugandan professionals abroad at their respectively clubs over the weekend. Several of them got on the scoresheet while others got ample playing time.

This is how some of them fared over the weekend.

Starting off in German, Herbert Bochorn was absent from the matchday squad as VFL Bochum lost 1-0 to RB Leipzig in the Germany bundesliga.

In England, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru wasn’t in the squad as Cardiff lost 1-0 to Fulham in the English Championship

Jordan Obita played full-time for Wycombe Wanderers as they lost 3-2 to Accrington in the English League 1 while Ibra Ssekaja featured for Dulwich Hornets as they beat Braintree 1-0 in the English National League South.

In Scotland, Bevis Mugabi played full-time as Motherwell drew two-all with defending champions Rangers FC in the Scottish Premiership.

In Israel, Timothy Awanyi wasn’t in the squad as Ashdod SC lost 3-1 to Maccabi Netanya in the Israeli Premiership.

While Fahad Bayo played the last 33 minutes as his side Bnei Sakhnin drew 1-1 with Bnei Jerusalem.

In Rwanda, Emmanuel Okwi netted a brace for Kiyovu FC as they humbled Gicumbi 6-0 in the Rwandese Premier League. He was on target in the 23rd and 90th minute.

Musa Esenu featured for Rayon Sports as they drew goalless with APR FC.

In Zambia, Hashim Sempala featured for Kabwe Warriors as they drew nil nil with Prison Leopards in the Zambian Premier League.

Yasin Mugabi was an unused substitute as Red Arrows beat Forrest Rangers 2-1.

In Kenya, both Peter Lwasa and William Wadri were on target as Gor Mahia drew 1-all with Bandari FC. Lwasa scored in the 42nd minute for Gor Mahia FC before his strike was canceled out by W Wadri in the 71st minute. Umaru Kasumba started from the bench for Bandari while Rogers Aloro wasn’t in the match day squad.

In Tanzania, Brian Mululi scored for Mtibwa Sugar as they beat Mbeya Kwanza 2-1 in the Tanzanian Premier League. Mululi goal came in the 37th minute.

Joseph Ssemujju also got on target as Mbeya City drew 1-all with Tanzanian Prisons. The former BUL forward netted the equaliser in the 85th minute.

Khalid Aucho was absent from the matchday squad as Young Africans beat Diego Hamis’ Kagera Sugar 3-0.

In South Africa, Moses Waiswa started and played an hour for Supersports United as they lost 2-0 to Royal AM in the Dstv Premiership.

Ismail Watenga was an unused substitute as Chippa United lost 3-2 to Marumo Gallants while Salim Jamal featured for Pretoria Callies as they drew 2-all with Free State Stars in the South African second tier.

In the CAF Champions League, Denis Onyango was absent from the squad as Mamelodi Sundowns beat Al Ahly 1-0 in Egypt.

While, Savio Kabugo was out with Covid as Jwaneng Galaxy lost 2-1 to CR Belzoguid.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Joseph Ochaya wasn’t in the match day squad as his TP Mazembe side beat Coton Sport 1-0 at home in the dieing minutes.

Taddeo Lwanga wasn’t in the match day squad as his Simba SC fell 2-0 at RS Berkane.

In Serbia, Pius Obuya played full-time as Label Novi Sad lost 3-0 to Timok.
