Next Match: Uganda vs. UAE – Sunday July 27, 1:30 PM, Entebbe

Uganda extended their unbeaten run in the Pearl of Africa (POA) T20 Series with a convincing six-wicket victory over Kenya on Matchday 7 at the Entebbe Oval while Nigeria edged Namibia A in a tense thriller to register their maiden victory at the Pearl of Africa T20 Series.

This win, their fifth in five matches, secures Uganda a spot in the final round clash against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday, where the tournament title will be decided.

Sent in to bowl after captain Juma Miyaji won his fifth straight toss, Uganda weathered Kenya’s aggressive start, which saw them reach 30/1 in three overs.

But the Ugandan bowlers soon tightened the screws.

Dinesh Nakrani delivered an economical spell of 1/18 in four overs, while sharp fielding and disciplined bowling from the rest of the attack restricted Kenya to just 124/8 in 20 overs.

Rakep Patel’s 37 off 36 balls was the only standout in a struggling Kenyan innings.

Uganda’s chase was measured as openers Robinson Obuya (17) and Shrideep Mangela (14) laid a steady foundation before Raghav Dhawan (32 off 46) took charge.

Despite losing wickets at intervals, Uganda stayed on course, with Cyrus Kakuru contributing 17.

With 30 runs needed off the last four overs, captain Miyaji stepped in and finished in style, smashing an unbeaten 18 off 7 balls, including a towering six.

Nakrani also remained not out on 23 from 20 balls, earning Player of the Match honors for his all-round performance.

Miyaji praised his team’s resolve:

“We treated this as a final. Kenya played hard, but the boys stayed composed.

Now our focus is on the UAE—we’ll play freely and go for the win.”

Assistant coach Jackson Ogwang echoed the sentiment, acknowledging improvements in execution despite

“some unnecessary wickets.”

Elsewhere, Nigeria picked up their first win of the tournament in a nail-biting, low-scoring thriller against Namibia A.

Batting first, Nigeria posted 105/9, thanks to Olayinka Olaleye’s 34 and Prosper Useni’s 20.

Namibia A came close, with Jan Balt scoring 35, but disciplined bowling by Peter Aho and Isaac Danladi, who took two wickets each, sealed a six-run win for Nigeria.

However, as a non-core participant, the victory does not affect Nigeria’s position on the points table but gives them some confidence going forward.

With Uganda on 10 points and UAE close behind at 6, Sunday’s finale promises a high-stakes showdown to crown the POA T20 champions.
