Uganda continued their impressive run in the second edition of the Pearl of Africa (POA) T20 Series, securing a commanding 28-run victory over rivals Kenya at the picturesque Entebbe Oval.
The win adds momentum to Uganda’s campaign ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in Zimbabwe later this year, where they hope to secure back-to-back World Cup appearances in Sri Lanka and India in 2026.
Captain Juma Miyaji, winning his third toss in a row, opted to bat first.
Uganda’s innings began shakily, with opener Ronald Lutaaya falling for a duck and Shrideep Mangela’s lively 17 off 8 balls cut short just as it promised fireworks.
However, the hosts regrouped thanks to a crucial third-wicket partnership.
Raghav Dhawan (41 off 39) and Robinson Obuya (40 off 48) stitched together a steady 84-run stand, rescuing Uganda from a precarious 22/2 to a much healthier 106/3.
Miyaji chipped in with a brisk 19 off just 8 deliveries, setting the stage for a final flourish by all-rounder Dinesh Nakrani.
His unbeaten 24 off 14 balls, featuring a four and a six, lifted Uganda to a competitive 157 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Kenya’s chase never found its rhythm.
Veteran spinner Frank Nsubuga turned back the clock with a mesmerizing spell, removing Kenyan skipper Dhiren Gondaria (4) early before claiming Tanzeel Sheikh for a golden duck the very next ball.
His third wicket, Pushkar Sharma, left Kenya reeling at 12/3 within the powerplay.
Nsubuga finished with remarkable figures of 3 for 10 in 3 overs.

Former Kenyan captain Rakep Patel tried to stabilize the innings with a gritty 58 off 49 balls, assisted by Sachin Gill’s quick 30 off 21.
But Uganda’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure, keeping the scoring rate just out of reach.
Seamer Cosmas Kyewuta sealed the game with a devastating second spell, removing Patel, Gill, and Jasraj Kundi to finish with match-winning figures of 3 for 21 from his 4 overs.
Alpesh Ramjani added a scalp of his own, while Miyaji and Nakrani kept things tight in the closing overs to wrap up a clinical performance in the field.
Uganda’s head coach Jackson Ogwang lauded the team’s all-round display:
“The batsmen showed character to rebuild under pressure, and the bowlers—especially Nsubuga and Kyewuta—executed perfectly.”
With this result, Uganda remain unbeaten alongside Namibia A, heading into their next fixture against Nigeria with confidence sky-high.
