City oilers started on a high at the Road to BAL Elite 16 with a convincing 77-47 win against South Sudan’s Fox Sports Basketball at Nyayo National stadium in their group B opener on Thursday.

The Ugandan Champions were off to a perfect start opening up with a 23-point lead heading into half time and were able to maintain momentum.

Four oilers finished off with double digits led by Germaine Roebuck who hit 20points, Israel Otobo (13), Petty Parrish (12) and Falando Jones (11).

“I think we had a great start, were were strong from the beginning and this is exactly the way I wanted us to start, win the first game because it set the pace for the rest of the tournament.” – Oilers coach Andrew Tendo speaking to CK sports after the game.

He denied any thoughts of Fox sports being an easy opponent on the day and says their full focus is on their next group game against Matero magic on Friday;

“We want to win our second game because we know if we do so, we shall already have one foot in the semis.”
