City Oilers Finish Fourth at Road to BAL Elite 16

City oilers suffered their 3rd consecutive defeat at the Road Basketball Africa League(BAL) Elite 16 on Tuesday. 

A 75:77 loss to Urunani in the 3rd place playoff placed the Ugandan Champions in 4th position out of the 8 teams in Nairobi, Kenya that have been competing for the two slots to BAL 2025 from the East division.

Oilers started off well with two wins from both their opening group games against South Sudan’s Fox Sports Basketball and Matero Magic of Zambia.

Their downfall started in the last group game against Urunani who dragged them into overtime and a defeat which meant they would finish second in group B for a face off against hosts Nairobi City Thunder in the semis.

The Kenyans cruised passed oilers in the semis and went on to end the tournament as champions defeating Cape Verde’s Kriol Stars 99:86 in the finals.

Both finalists will be debutants at the BAL next Year.
