Uganda ambassadors in the CECAFA Kagame Cup, KCCA and Express FC had mixed starts in Tanzania.

The Red Eagles got off to a fine start while the Kasasiro Boys were so poor against a youthful Azam FC.

Staring off with Express, Eric Kambale nettted the lone goal as the Red Eagles defeated Atlabara FC 1-0 in the group A encounter.

Kambale lone strike came from the penalty spot in the fifth minute of the game and proved to be the winner.

Express finished the game with ten men after Abel Etrude was sent off for a foul on Enarndez Terra in the second half.

With the vital opening win, Express move to the top of log with three points. The other group A and opening game of the tournament saw Young Africans and Big Bullets FC end 1-1 on Sunday.

Uganda’s other ambassador and defending Champion, KCCA FC got off to a false start after they lost 2-0 to a youthful Azam FC.

Paul Peter Kasunda netted both goals for Tanzanian side to subject the defending Champions to their first defeat in their opening game of the tournament.

Morley Byekwaso side failed to convert the few chances they got throughout the game in the repeat of the 2019 final.

Gift Ali, Julius Poloto and Denis Iguma all had brilliant chances to score but all failed to find the target.

The loss sees KCCA sink to the bottom of group B after one game. The other game in the group saw Messager Ngozi and KMKM draw 1-1.
