The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECFA) has fined Uganda’s Express FC and Zanzibar’s Kikosi Maalum cha Kuzuia Magendo Sports Club (KMKM SC) after the two clubs were involved in unsporting practices before their semifinal clash on Tuesday.
According to CECAFA, the two clubs skipped the warm-up time, which is a must for before any match at any officially sanctioned football match, and further kept in the dressing rooms on top of delaying the kick-off time by keeping at the touchline without entering the field. Each club was fined USD 3000 for these unexpected acts exhibited during their match No.13.
The organisers of the tournament have also fined players, Ishaka Said Mwinyi and Adam Ibrahim Abdallah of KMKM were each fined USD 500 and suspended for four matches for their misconduct against match officials. The duo will miss their classification match against Azam FC on Saturday.
Suleiman Mohammed a Physio with KMKM was also fined USD 500 and suspended for the next one match while Express’ Kits Manager Ayub Balyejusa will also pay USD 500 in fines for attacking the 4th Official on his way to the dressing rooms.
Express FC’s Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa was strongly warned for his continuous insults towards the match officials throughout the first half.
The Disciplinary Committee chaired by Mr. Justus Mugisha at Tiffany Diamond Hotel, in Dar es Salasm City also had Auka Gacheo (CECAFA Executive Director) Yousuf Mossi (Competitions Director), Leslie Liyunda & Ali Ahmed (Referee Assessors), Amir Hassan (Match Commissioner), Albino Majok (Security Officer), Baraka Kizuguto (General Coordinator) and Hood Sumaya (Asst Gen. Coordinator).
