The Cameroon Indomitable Lions delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Uganda Cranes 3-0 in an international friendly match held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Stade de Marrakech Annexe in Morocco.
The match saw Cameroon take the lead in the 34th minute when Osasuna defender Flavien Boyomo headed in a free kick delivered by Stade Rennais’ left-back Mahamadou Nagida.
Just two minutes into the second half, Jean Batoum doubled Cameroon’s advantage with a well-placed header from a corner kick taken by CSKA Sofia’s right-back James Eto’o.
Cameroon sealed the victory in the 67th minute when Huesca forward Patrick Soko finished off a through ball from captain Vincent Aboubakar, who had come on as a substitute at the start of the second half.
Uganda’s head coach, Paul Joseph Put, made several substitutions in an attempt to change the game’s momentum. Travis Mutyaba replaced Allan Okello at halftime, Patrick Jonah Kakande came on for Rogers Mato in the 67th minute, Muhammed Shaban substituted Denis Omedi with 13 minutes remaining, Arafat Usama replaced Hakim Kiwanuka, and goalkeeper Isima Watenga took over from Nafian Alionzi in added time.
Despite these changes, Uganda was unable to break through Cameroon’s defense. Cameroon, currently ranked 50th in the FIFA rankings, showcased their experience and tactical prowess against the 89th-ranked Uganda side.
The Uganda Cranes will look to regroup as they prepare for their next international friendly against The Gambia, scheduled for July 9, 2025, also in Morocco.
