Calvary FC picked up a vital point after holding defending champions Vipers SC to a 0-0 draw in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Wednesday at Midigo Primary School grounds in Yumbe.
Vipers, who would have gone top with a win, instead moved to second on 18 points two behind leaders KCCA after failing to break down the league’s bottom side. The visitors suffered an early setback when Abubakali Walusimbi limped off after 17 minutes, and despite late chances from Milton Karisa and a Yunus Ssentamu free kick that clipped the crossbar, they couldn’t find the winner.
Calvary, backed by strong home support, defended resolutely throughout, with goalkeeper Fauzu Tatiga starring and earning the man of the match award.
The result leaves Vipers frustrated after missing a chance to reclaim top spot, while Calvary celebrate only their second point of the season.
