CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe expressed his deep sorrow towards the tragedy that struck Ugandan football on Friday evening as assistant referee Peter Kabugo collapsed during an Uganda Premier League match between SC Villa and UPDF FC at Wankulukuku Stadium.

Despite medics’ swift response, Kabugo sadly passed away en route to the hospital. And was buried on Sunday.
In an official statement via CAF’s different online pages on Sunday night, President Motsepe expressed his sorrow.
“The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Uganda Premier League match official, Peter Kabugo. May Peter Kabugo’s soul rest in eternal peace.”
Dr. Motsepe extended condolences to Kabugo’s family, FUFA President Moses Magogo, and the Ugandan people.
