Day Five of the Mukono T20 Cup delivered a fiery blend of explosive batting and clinical bowling, with Mukono Development cruising to victory in the morning before the Buvuma Sailors unleashed a relentless batting storm to post the highest total of the tournament.

The Kayunga Titans, playing twice on the day, found themselves overwhelmed in both fixtures as the table tightened at the top.

The morning encounter saw Kayunga Titans take on Mukono Development in a match shaped by powerful individual displays and disciplined bowling.

Opting to bat first, Kayunga began brightly through Martin Bwogi, whose fluent 47 off 32 anchored the early effort.

Contributions from Lwanga Brain (25) and skipper Asaba Brian (26) kept the innings alive, but Mukono’s bowlers consistently struck at vital intervals.

Kenneth Ogenrwot ripped through the middle order with three important wickets, while Anas Baig delivered a controlled spell of 2 for 12.

Despite their promising start, the Titans were restricted to 132/9 in 20 overs.

Chasing 133, Mukono Development dominated proceedings from the outset, led by a breathtaking innings from Anas Baig.

Displaying controlled aggression, Baig hammered 80 off 49 balls, including eight fours and five towering sixes, dictating the chase with authority.

With wickets falling only intermittently, Mukono cruised to 133/3 in 15 overs, securing a commanding 7-wicket win.

Baig’s all-round brilliance rightfully earned him Player of the Match.

In the afternoon, the Buvuma Sailors faced the Titans in a one-sided contest defined by top-order fireworks.

After electing to bat, the Sailors surged ahead with intent. Simon Ssesazi was at the heart of the assault, crafting a majestic 71 off 37 balls, decorated with six fours and four sixes.

He found support from Calvin Watuwa, whose blistering 51 off 29 lifted the innings further, while skipper Ajuna Robert added a quickfire 26 off 13.

Their combined aggression powered Buvuma to a towering 214/7—the tournament’s highest total so far.

Kayunga’s reply struggled for stability.

Though Emmanuel Okwalinga steadied the innings with a fighting 44 and Brian Asaba launched a late counterattack with 50 off 22, the Sailors’ disciplined bowling—led by Asiku Jackson and Mahad Ssekito—kept the chase in check.

The Titans finished on 143/8, falling short by 71 runs.

Day Five underlined the intensity of the tournament, with dominant batting displays, sharp bowling, and rising stakes.

With the top two teams qualifying for the final, fans can anticipate more fiercely contested clashes as the Mukono T20 Cup enters a pivotal stretch.
