Back in 2012, the Franconian club SpVgg Greuther Fürth was a major name in German football, as the club made the dreams of their fans come true: their first-ever promotion to the Bundesliga. Unfortunately, they were unable to maintain their previous form and were relegated back to Bundesliga 2 after just one season. Meet the coach
The Munich–born Greuther Fürth coach Stefan Leitlstarted his footballing career at the very top of German football, with FC Bayern München. Although he never received any playing time in the Bundesliga, Leitlwas a regular in the Bundesliga 2, playing for clubs such as 1. FC Nürnberg and FC Ingolstadt. At Ingolstadt, he also started his coaching career and went on the become head coach in 2017. In February of 2019, he took over Greuther Fürth and established an attractive and attacking style of play that has led the team back to the Bundesliga.

Former US Secretary of State and winner of the Nobel Peace PrizeHenry Kissinger was born in Fürth and regularly watched his beloved club Greuther Fürth during his childhood. Famously, he paid the club a flying visit in 2012, when the club played in their first Bundesliga season to see a game against FC Schalke 04. In earlier days as Secretary of State, he received Fürth’s results after every matchday directly from the German Embassy.
