The Bundesliga comes roaring back into action this weekend, with Erling Haaland back leading the line for Borussia Dortmund against a red-hot Christopher Nkunku and RB Leipzig in a blockbuster meeting on Saturday night.

Haaland is yet to find the back of the net since returning from injury but, having scored braces in each of his three competitive meetings with Leipzig to date, Die Roten Bullen may be the perfect opponents for the 21-year-old to end his threegame drought.

Hosts Dortmund are unbeaten since the Norwegian re-entered the fold, though, and Marco Rose’s side have also been buoyed by the return from injury of USA international Gio Reyna.

As for the visitors, Leipzig have been superb since Domenico Tedesco took charge and head to the weekend in fourth place after losing just once in 2022.

Central to their renewed UEFA Champions League bid has been Nkunku, who has 15 Bundesliga goals and another nine assists to show for his work this term. Nkunku scored one and laid on another in his team’s 2-1 victory in the reverse and, fresh from making his France debut last Friday, he will lead the way once again.

A win for BVB would move them to within three points of FC Bayern München, should the defending champions slip up at SC Freiburg earlier on Saturday.

In turn, Julian Nagelsmann’s team will be out to stretch their lead to nine points before Dortmund take on Leipzig, and there was superb news around the team last week as Alphonso Davies returned to training.

Having watched his nation qualify for the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup this week, the Canadian left-back may even be fit enough to feature in some capacity. Far more certain is the involvement of Robert Lewandowski, who will be up against newly capped Germany international Nico Schlotterbeck as the Pole continues to target his own 41-goal single-season record.

Saturday’s action also features a veritable six-pointer between a DSC Arminia Bielefeld side containing George Bello and Pellegrino Matarazzo’s VfB Stuttgart, while Eintracht Frankfurt host SpVgg Greuther Fürth, Bayer 04 Leverkusen face Hertha Berlin and TSG Hoffenheim tackle VfL Bochum 1848.

Prior to that, Matchday 28 kicks-off in the German capital on Friday evening, with 1. FC Union Berlin and 1. FC Köln pitting Taiwo Awoniyi and Anthony Modeste against each other as both sides look to keep their European hopes alive.

Sunday’s top-flight games are rounded out by FC Augsburg vs. VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach vs. 1. FSV Mainz 05.

Meanwhile, in Bundesliga 2, Christoph Daferner and Simon Terodde go head-tohead on Friday as the relegation battle meets the promotion chase when SG Dynamo Dresden welcome FC Schalke 04 to town.

FC Ingolstadt 04 also play FC Erzgebirge Aue the same night, while there are four matches to be played on Saturday: Hamburger SV vs. SC Paderborn 07, SV Darmstadt 98 vs. Holstein Kiel, Hannover 96 vs. SSV Jahn Regensburg and FC Hansa Rostock vs. current league leaders FC St. Pauli.

Sunday is then closed out with second-place SV Werder Bremen vs. SV

Sandhausen, Karlsruher SC vs. Fortuna Düsseldorf and 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 vs. FC Nürnberg.
