BUL FC deepen KCCA woes in post-Mubiru era

KCCA FC’s transition under interim coach Jackson Magera began on a sour note as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against BUL FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The result marks KCCA’s second consecutive loss in the Uganda Premier League, following a heavy 4-0 defeat to Kitara, and raises early questions about the club’s direction after the departure of head coach Abdallah Mubiru.

Midfielder Jeromy Kirya gave BUL the lead in the 28th minute, capitalising on a misjudged clearance by KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalibu Mugolofa.

The visitors nearly doubled their advantage before the break, but KCCA came close themselves when Saidi Mayanja’s header drifted inches wide.

After the interval, KCCA pressed for an equaliser but were repeatedly denied by BUL shot-stopper Joel Mutakubwa, who pulled off key saves to frustrate Gavin Kizito and Joel Sserunjogi.

BUL extended their lead in the 83rd minute when Karim Ndugwa finished off a quick counter-attack led by Isaac Musiima.

Ashraf Mugume pulled one back for the Kasasiro Boys deep into stoppage time, but it was too little too late as BUL secured all three points.

The win sees BUL FC climb to third in the table with 42 points from 23 games. KCCA remain sixth on 34 points, also from 23 matches.

In the next fixtures, KCCA FC will visit URA FC on Wednesday, 16 April at Nakivubo Stadium while BUL FC will host Police FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on the same day
