Tornado Bees 86 all out in 31.2 overs

Rounders won by 103 runs

Brian Mark Masaba celebrated both his return from national duty in Kigali and his birthday with a match-winning all-round performance, lifting Rounders Cricket Club to a crucial 103-run win over Tornado Bees in the Men’s National 50 Over League.

The victory snapped a three-match losing streak for Rounders and marked Masaba’s second win in three games since joining the side.

Masaba, who missed Rounders’ previous heavy defeat to Kutchi Tigers, proved vital upon his return.

After electing to bat, Rounders managed 189 in 48.5 overs.

The modest total was built on resilient contributions throughout the lineup, with eight batters reaching double figures.

Masaba anchored the innings with a patient 33 off 86 balls, while Steven Wabwose added 28 off 47.

Tornado Bees started strongly, reaching 52 without loss, with debutant Simon Ssesazi (38 off 58) and Gerald Olipa (20) looking settled.

Ssesazi’s surprise appearance for the Bees was notable amid rumors of his potential move to Rounders.

However, a sharp run out orchestrated by Masaba and Oscar Manishimwe dismissed Olipa, triggering a collapse.

The Bees crumbled from 52/0 to 86 all out in 31.2 overs, losing all ten wickets for just 34 runs.

Four batters registered ducks.

Masaba was again instrumental, claiming 3/10 in seven overs, while captain Narinda Singh also took 3/10.

Zubair Tembo’s lone wicket tied him for the league lead with 22 wickets.

Despite strong bowling by Roger Mukasa (4/50) and Akbar Baig (3/34), Tornado Bees’ collapse handed Rounders a vital win.

Masaba was deservedly named Player of the Match.
