Big Interview: Kawempe ace Nadunga looks up to Tracy Jones Akiror

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC striker Sharon Nadunga says she currently looks up to Tracy Jones Akiror who currently plies her trade in AFC Ann Arbor in America.

AFC Ann Arbor is in the USL League Two and the Crested Cranes skipper joined the club early this year.

In our conversation with her, Sharon Nadunga noted that much as she looks up to Tracy Jones, she can’t forget Yudaya Nakayenze who has also played a huge milestone in her life.

” I look up to Tracy Jones because of her productivity and i really want to be like her and pursue all my dreams,” Sharon Nadunga opened up.

“I got to play football because i was inspired by Yudaya Nakayenze and i remember very well when i was in primary five i started in goal, by then Yudaya told me to leave the goal and come play the right back.”

“Yudaya is my tribemate and we stayed together in the Mbale, We even shared a school.”

She further noted how she used to balance books and football because the two needed alot of maximum concentration.

“We used to be pushed by Madam Hadijah Namakula and when it was time for class it was class, when it was football, it was football in other-wards everything had its own time.” Nadunga added.

As you know, In Uganda, women football came to birth in the early 90s not like men’s football that has been their for longer periods. Nadunga says she opts for football than any other career.

“Not like men’s football, we are still growing but i opted for it because i had the love for the game because you can’t do something when your not Interested nor inspired by someone.”

Uganda automatically qualified to the AWCON due to the withdrawal of Kenya. The Kawempe Muslim striker shares her opinion about the tournament.

“We were so happy when we got the news about the withdrawal of Kenya and i can’t wait to be summoned on the team that will feature in the forthcoming tournament.”

Nadunga further highlighted about her best moment in Uganda Women football.

“My best moment was when we featured in COSAFA much as we didn’t come back home with the trophy.”
