The betPawa Futsal Super League second round got off to an exciting start on Friday, 24 January 2025, with a thrilling match between Park FC and Mengo City at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena.
Park FC showed resilience to come from behind and secure a 3-3 draw, maintaining their lead at the top of the table.
Mengo City Takes Early Command
Mengo City started the game in commanding fashion, taking an early 2-0 lead through goals from Samuel Omara and Sharif Opuuli.

Omara opened the scoring in the 6th minute, followed quickly by Opuuli’s strike in the 8th minute, leaving Park FC with a tough challenge going into the halftime break.
The Stormers, as Mengo City are known, were rampant in the first half, with Park FC struggling to find their rhythm.
Park FC Fight Back
The second half saw Park FC start with renewed energy. Just 10 minutes into the half, Michael Abura pulled one back for the leaders, making it 2-1 and giving his side a glimmer of hope.
However, Mengo City quickly restored their two-goal advantage when Abdulkarim Tebela capitalized on a rare error by Park FC’s goalkeeper Brian Drilleba, scoring just one minute after Abura’s goal. It looked like Mengo City would maintain control of the game.
But Park FC wasn’t done yet. In the 61st minute, they pulled another goal back after a defensive slip-up by Mengo City. Joshua Aziku capitalized on the mistake, making it 3-2 and setting up a tense finish.
With the clock ticking down, Park FC kept pushing and were rewarded in the final minutes when Abura netted his second goal to level the score at 3-3.
Table Standings
With the draw, Park FC remained at the top of the league table, extending their lead to 31 points, four points ahead of second-placed Mengo City, who now have 27 points. The match was the final game of the day, which featured six fixtures in total.
Other Results
Elsewhere, Kisugu FC delivered the biggest win of the day, dominating Crown Lubiri 5-0. The result kept Kisugu in third place, while Nansana Aska, who defeated Lubaga Grameen 5-1, and Kabowa, who edged Edgar’s Youth Programme 4-3, maintained their positions in the top four.
Kisenyi FC ended a five-game winless streak with a much-needed 4-1 victory over Mbarara QC. Kabuusu Clouds also claimed an important 3-1 win against Busunju Sparks, adding to the excitement of the day’s fixtures.
League Break and Upcoming Fixtures
With the completion of the first half of the season and the opening game of the second half, the league will take a break until 28 February 2025.
This break will allow the Futsal Association of Uganda to shift focus to the Under-17 tournament and the Uganda Cup, providing a brief respite before the Futsal Super League resumes.
The results on Friday have added intrigue to the title race, with Park FC continuing to lead the way, but Mengo City and other challengers still in hot pursuit as the season progresses.
